The first woman Speaker in Ogun disclosed this at a press briefing held at the secretariat of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun state council, Iwe Iroyin, Abeokuta.

Gomez said she was leaving the opposition party, PDP due to its intractable crisis which began right from the time she was unceremoniously impeached as the Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly in 2008 noting that this internal wrangling had been responsible for the loss of the opposition party in the state both in 2011 and 2015.

She explained that after much political consultation across the state, as a progressive politician with determination to continue to serve the people, she has decided to pitch tent with African Democratic Congress, ADC as it is a party committed to unity, good governance and equal opportunity for all Nigerians.

Rt. Hon Mrs Titi Oseni Gomez further described ADC as a renewed and reinvigorated political party that can reverse the persistent despair, hardship, disappointment, falsehood and propaganda that the ruling APC had subjected Nigerians to since it took over in 2015.

She revealed further that, though primary assignment of lawmakers were to make law but she also used her tenure as legislator representing Abeokuta South constituency 2 from 2003 to 2011 to attract many developmental projects to the constituency while many women, traders, artisans, students among others benefited from her various empowerment programmes.

The former Speaker maintained that her ambition to represent Ogun central at the senate come 2019 was to further allow her as an experienced lawmaker use the instrument of lawmaking to contribute to building a virile nation with effective representation and leadership based on equity, fairness and unity.

She promised that if given the opportunity to represent Ogun central at the senate next year, she would facilitate more developmental projects to the senatorial district while many empowerment programmes targeted at making life more bearable for all and sundry would be religiously pursued.

Welcoming her into the party, its governorship candidate, Prince Gboyega Isiaka described Rt. Hon Mrs Titi Oseni Gomez as a “big political catch” for the party maintaining that people of substance and heavy weight in political affairs of the state had continue to troop into the party since it took off about four months ago.

He has therefore urged the party faithfuls to continue to mobilise more members into the party and remain united saying that the party’s resolve to take over the reign of power in the state next year was not negotiable.
