Ogun NSCDC Decorates Asiwaju Dapo Wahab as Peace Ambassador | Tropic Reporters News

ABEOKUTA – The Peace and Conflict Management Unit of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command on Wednesday 19th December 2018 in an event which was held at NSCDC College of Security Management, Oke – Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State to mark the command’s end of the year Quarterly Workshop which also featured the inauguration and presentation of awards to eminent personalities who have continually contributed immensely to the promotion of peace in their respective localities, Ogun State and by extension Nigeria.

In the Opening remarks of the Assistant Zonal Commander of NSCDC, Ogun State Command, ACG Waheed Babatunde Popoola stated the importance of peaceful co-existence as it was the bedrock of any Prosperous society or nation.

He noted that although peace was as old as human race. He said that people should try as much as possible to make peace with their neighbour as this would be the first contact in case of any emergencies or crisis.

The Assistant Zonal Commander opined further that the effect of making peace with people around was key and urged them to embrace peace as peace at home could transcends to peace in the nation.

He thereafter enjoined the awardees to continually promote peace which was the top most reason why they were chosen as Peace Ambassadors.

He re – instated that nothing could be compared to peace and that all hands must be on deck to aid the promotion of peace and peaceful co-existence in the nation.

The Assistant Controller General concluded that Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) medium should be used to settle dispute or crisis amicably as talking aggrieved parties to court of law could aggravate problem thereby causing more harm than the supposed good.

While inaugurating and presentation of Award as Peace Ambassadors, The Chief Executive Officer of Sparkle Cheery International Consultancy Services, Alhaji (Asiwaju) Nurudeeen Dapo Wahab was also decorated as peace ambassador of Ogun State Zonal Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

Alhaji (Asiwaju) Dapo Wahab is a recipient of many awards in recent years due to his selfless services to human race includes; FUNAAB – SUG Award of Exemplary Leadership, Bode Olude Muslim Community Award of Excellence, Award of Excellence from Opeji Area Community Development Council, Robbil Hizzat Islamic Group Jihad Merit Award, Honourary Fellow Award from Chattered Institute of Commerce, Nigeria, Leadership Award from Nigeria Institute of Supervision & Leadership etc.

While running down his profile, Alhaji Dapo Wahab had Professional Master Degree (Mpm) in Project Management from the Prestigious American Academy of Project Management, United State in 2009. He also obtained certificates in Facilities Maintenance Management and Food Safety Risk minimization from the British Institute of Facilities Management, United Kingdom and University of Maryland, U.S.A. respectively.

He also obtained training certificate in Laboratory methods of water sampling Analysis and Environmental Pollution & Control from Nigeria Institute of Science Laboratory Technology, Ibadan.

Due to his numerous contributions towards the growth and development of humanity, Alhaji Dapo Wahab was recently honoured with two traditional titles as Asiwaju of Baalesi Land, Ira Gbagura, Abeokuta, Ogun State and Mayegun of Odeda Kingdom, Odeda, Ogun State respectively.

Asiwaju Dapo Wahab while responding to the award given, he commended the organizers of the award for counting him and other awardees worthy of such remarkable and outstanding awards. He thereafter used the opportunity to dedicate the peace award to all peace promoter and enjoined them to always promote peace no matter the situation or circumstances.

The pioneer Controller General of NSCDC, Commander (Dr. Ade John Abolurin (Rtrd) was also decorated as peace ambassador at the epoch making event.

Other awardees include Alhaji Adeyinka Waheed Aremu, Professor (Mrs) Helen Bodunde of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Mr. Iyiola Omotunde, Mr. Agboola Abeeb, Oba Rasheed Adesanya Adeoye, Olisa of Ijebu Ode, Major General S. A. Odunsi (Rtd), Architect (Dr.) O. O. Aluko, Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, Oba Yinusa Oladele Adekoya, Owokoya of Idowa, Pastor Monday Akindele, FCA, Ambassador Adeniyi Sholabunmi, Alhaji (Chief) Sikiru Olatunde, Chief Duro Aikulola and Oba Musiliudeen Adewale.

Eminent personalities that also witnessed the event include Commander of Ogun NSCDC ably represented by Isaac Lawrence, AC Smart Onokoya, Head of Department of Crisis Management of NSCDC, Mr. Segun Ogunyanwo, Registrar of Institute of Chattered Mediator and Conciliation, Mr. Akinropo Omowaye representing GIZ, Provost of College of Security Management, Rachael Awonusi represented by Dc. Alabi Babatunde, Chief (Mrs) Bolanle Dapo Wahab, Mr. Adediran Olusola, Engr. Rasheed Makinde and Mr. Tokunbo Oyeyinka
